For 75 years, UNICEF has been working tirelessly for the rights and well-being of every child. Whoever they are. Wherever they live.

Founded in the aftermath of World War II, we have been at the frontlines responding to crises from the start. From short-term relief to long-term development programmes, we have reimagined what is possible to help millions of children survive and thrive. Through committed partnerships and on-the-ground expertise across more than 190 countries and territories, we have defeated diseases, provided essential services, education and skills, and developed healthier and safer environments for children and their families everywhere.

Today, the world is again engulfed in crisis, the consequences of which are eroding decades of progress for children. As these striking photographic stories reveal, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted every aspect of children’s lives and exacerbated inequalities, especially for the most marginalised.

As we commemorate this milestone anniversary, we recommit ourselves with a new spirit of urgency to working with partners, children and young people to reimagine the future for every child.
